S bar S Outdoor Education was finally founded in March 2024 as the nonprofit of our dreams, but our story goes back several years before that to 2013. That year one college professor and one homeschool mom teamed up to bring ecology field trips to a local university.  One brought her leadership skills and vision for the program, the other brought brought a love of checklists and her handmade homeschool curriculum scaled up for university-level instruction.  We decided to take our kids with us on these university trips and successfully enticed them into hiking, insect collecting, botanical studies, studying aquatic conditions, birding and all sorts of other field research activities they wouldn’t have otherwise experienced. The satisfaction of not only leading university students but our own children to connect themselves to nature and nature’s Creator was inspirational. As our children grew, we ran nine successful seasons of fall, spring, and summer research trips and finally we decided to launch out on our own doing what we love best. Now we and our families see our dreams come true by offering our own brand of classes.  S bar S Outdoor Education offers classroom lecture/field research classes, day trips, workshops and overnight research campouts to homeschools, schools, community groups and churches.  We invite you to join our families as we reach out into nature and connect students to God and his creation through science.
